“A Spoon Full of Sugar Helps the Medicine Go Down” – Internship Week Three Monday July 1- Wednesday July 3

As I started my third week of my internship I realized that I was getting sick. Being sick in a foreign country is SO not fun. I have grown very accustomed to the US medical and hospital system. The doctors in the UK are very against giving out antibiotics because they think people’s immune systems are the greatest thing ever and it will solve all your body’s problems. After battling a fever and countless other symptoms, I saw two doctors and one of them very reluctantly agreed to give me penicillin (I think I’m living in the 1800s.) I have never been so happy to see a prescription!
