Well I'm finally here!!! Welcome to my blog all about my study abroad experience in London, England. I arrived extremely early on the morning of June 3rd with so much excitement and a severe lack of sleep, jet lag is no joke. Unable to move into my apartment yet, I temporarily stayed at a hotel on Park Lane. One of the first major differences I noticed was the cars driving on the opposite side of the road... why is it American's always want to do the opposite of the rest of the world? Standing on a sidewalk and having cars, taxis, and double decker buses whizz towards me was a definite adjustment. Due to my lack of energy on day one, I simply stayed in the area my hotel was in. I took a short walk around London and then got some much needed sleep. In the evening I ate in the hotel's restaurant and enjoyed my first legal drink of London... a Red Daisy (champagne, gin, lemon, sugar, and a scoop of sorbet in the middle, YUM!) In London they pay food and service workers with fare wages so there is no need to tip the same as the US. Overall I have just begun to notice some of the MANY differences in the London culture and cannot wait to see what is in store for me over the next 6 weeks!
